Office Hours
Make the best use of your time with the TAs
- Be respectful & polite.
- TAs are focused on helping you understand content. TAs are not there to ensure you get the correct answer or finish an assignment -- those are your responsibilities.
- TAs are "on the job"
- Do not expect TAs to work longer than their scheduled time.
- Do not ask them for assistance on 131 outside of their work hours.
- TAs enforce course polices that they may not agree with. Do not blame them for doing so.
- TAs are here to help, but they're human and not always able to answer every question that comes up.
- Office hours can be hectic. Be patient!
- When demoing, do not complain to TAs about point deductions. They are following the posted rubric.
- Struggling and trying to figure out the "next step" is a beneficial part of the learning process in this class.
- Do not expect a TA to sit with you through an entire assignment. They are directed to help each person "get back on track" and then move on.
- TAs may help you understand why something isn't working rather than explain exactly how to make it work. This is intentional --- correcting misunderstandings is an important part of learning the material. Once misunderstandings are pointed out we try to leave you with a chance to reflect and reconsider your work.
- Do not abuse the help system by signing up for help immediately after a TA has just helped you. If you 're truly stuck after serious effort and reflection, feel free to request further assistance.
