End-of-term Evaluations
Most universities offer a common course-evaluation system where students can provide anonymous feedback at the end of the semester. The system may also include a space for instructors to add custom questions (the system used here at Wash U does, look for the emails towards the end of semester telling you how to add custom questions). Review this feedback after the course, and note changes you would like to make. This may include adjusting due dates for major assignments, adding or removing assignments, or adjusting the content. You can also use your own daily evaluations of the course to guide revisions. Questions you may wish to ask include:
- Which techniques or activities worked very well or not very well? Why?
- Which readings sparked interesting discussion? Which did not resonate with the class?
- Were your students able to understand the topics? How can you assess this understanding in the moment?
- Do you need to provide additional work time or more context in the future?
